Late payment of debt can be a big problem for any business, large or small. It is frustrating and time-consuming chasing people who cannot or will not pay.
Inksters’ litigation department can advise and assist you on the recovery of commercial or personal debts due to you in Scotland. We routinely recover debts for a number of small and mid-sized businesses as well as individuals.
First, we will send a letter of demand. Often that is enough to provoke payment, or some kind of response. This may result in securing payment without recourse to the courts, or the negotiation of a payment plan with debtors who are unable to pay straight away. If that fails, we’ll speak with you about your options. If a court action is necessary, we can raise that immediately, seeking payment of the debt, interest which will be due to you, and expenses. In urgent situations involving larger debts, we can also arrange to ask the court to prevent the debtor from selling their house or land without you being paid, or to seize money in their bank account.
Once we get a judgement (decree) in your favour, we can then talk you through the best methods of recovering the debt in the most effective way.
